About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of the South Georgia Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic is to decrease the number of homeless animals thereby decreasing the local euthanasia rates in our area by providing reduced cost spays and neuters for all dogs and cats.

In every community in every state there are many homeless animals that end up in shelters. Half of these animals are euthanized just because there are not enough people to adopt them. Our goal is to prevent thousands of unwanted births thus reducing local shelter intakes and needless euthanasia of dogs and cats.

Our Services

The South Georgia Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic is designed for the sole purpose of spaying and neutering dogs and cats in South Georgia and North Florida. Vaccines, microchips and other pet health maintenance services are offered only at the time of surgery.

Note: We are not a full-service veterinary clinic.

Our Service Areas

The clinic's focus is serving residents of South Georgia and North Florida. In Georgia, this includes the counties of Thomas, Baker, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Decatur, Grady, Lowndes, Miller, Mitchell, Tift and Worth; and the Georgia Cities of Thomasville, Adel, Attapulgus, Bainbridge, Cairo, Camilla, Hahira, Lenox, Morven, Moultrie, Ochlocknee, Omega, Pavo, Pelham, Quitman, Sylvester, Tifton and Valdosta. Florida counties included are Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla; and the Florida Cities of Tallahassee, Bradfordville, Crawfordville, Havana, Monticello, Quincy, and Wakulla.

Animals are accepted from other areas as availability permits.

A Brief History

In 2008, a group of local animal advocates came together to discuss trying to overcome some of the issues of the large numbers of animals, particularly cats, being processed through local animal shelters. These meetings resulted in the establishment, in 2009, of Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, Inc.,
a no-kill, no-cage, and all-volunteer endeavor. Since that time the community has shown its support for these efforts.

Recently, a movement across America has recognized that the best way to solve the large over-population of unwanted animals is to offer low cost spays and neuters to communities so that large numbers of pets and community animals can be sterilized, thus preventing thousands of unwanted animal births.

Early in 2014, a campaign was launched to raise funds for the construction of a high volume, low cost spay and neuter clinic in Thomasville to serve the South Georgiaand North Florida areas. Community support and the receipt of a generous grant from Petsmart Charities, resulted in the construction of The South Georgia Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic which opened its doors in Thomasville, Georgia, in June of 2015. In addition, Fix Georgia Pets partnered with us to provide additional funding and education.
